Police Seal Kwankwaso’s House Over Mass Wedding.
The residence of former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Lugard Road in Kano metropolis, was sealed by policemen, yesterday.
The house also serves as headquarters of Kwankwasiyya, the group loyal to the former governor. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Rabiu Yusuf, who confirmed the development, said the action followed an intelligence report that there was a plan to conduct a mass wedding in the house.
Rabiu, who spoke through the police spokesman, DSP Magaji Majiya, added: “We have directed our men to seal the residence because of an intelligence report that there is a plan to conduct a mass wedding in the house.”

MYNAIJAINFO learned that armed policemen were deployed to the area and kept vigil at the house, while turning back motorists plying the road. The state Police Command had, on August 18, banned a mass wedding organised by Kwankwasiyya.
The police spokesman said in a statement that the event was stopped because it coincided with the state government’s planned empowerment programme slated for August 20. “Police has banned the two ceremonies indefinitely as security intelligence at our disposal revealed that some disgruntled elements are preparing to use the occasions to cause havoc in the state,” Majiya said.
