Okorocha Reacts to Douglas Refuse Dump Clearance
The Imo state Government has debunked rumor by the State PDP Youths about the refuse dump at popular Douglas Road being cleared by the PDP. This was contained in a statement by the Governor’s press secretary, Mr Bright Mbachu yesterday.
“The attention has been drawn to me on the baseless, false and unfounded rumor trending online by the same PDP youths whose stock in trade to fabricate false stories against the governor.
In the said story, those behind it claimed that the state govt prevented the agents paid by PDP to evacuate the refuse from dumping the refuse at dump site. This claim by PDP is not only laughable but a deliberate attempt by PDP to score cheap political point.
IT IS NOT TRUE.
It should be recalled that the state govt ably led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha since inception has maintained regular evacuation of refuse along Douglas road, until recently when some indigenes of Owerri dragged the state govt to court where they secured an injunction restricting the govt and its agents from nearing the Eke Ukwu market.
As a govt that has much regards for the rule of law, the govt has no other option than to obey the order. Based on this, I wish to commend Hon Onyewuchi for performing his first constituency project in his immediate constituency by removing the heaps of refuse at the said market.
I also appeal to him to sustain the exercise while the court injunction last. I therefore urge Imo people to disregard such rumour.
God bless Imo State.”
