Obiano to Address 2016 World Igbo Congress in New York.
The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano will today address the 22nd World Igbo Congress holding in New York. Governor Obiano who will be making his first speaking appearance at what is widely seen as the largest gathering of the Igbo intelligentsia under one roof in the Diaspora will be speaking on the Igbo homeland and what the Igbo must do to make it great.
Titled “Igboland can be Great Again,” Obiano’s address which will be delivered between 3.30pm and 5pm Nigerian time, takes firm roots in the theme of the Congress for this year which is Ka anyi mezie Alaigbo (Let us rebuild Igboland).
It would be recalled that in the past one year, Governor Obiano has shown admirable capacity for leadership in Anambra State with his glittering achievements, winning prestigious awards and the encomium of respected Nigerians as well as a recognition from Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Feelers from the New York venue of the World Igbo Congress indicate that attendees are all looking forward to hear Obiano speak and possibly indicate in his speech how the changes that are going on in Anambra can become the larger story of the South East region.
