Anambra at 25: Stakeholders Hold “Invest in Anambra” Lecture.
AWKA: In its first Jubilee anniversary Lecture, Anambra State Stakeholders were guests yesterday at a lecture series title “Think Nigeria, Invest in Anambra, Aku luo uno” delivered by HRM Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha.
The Event which was held yesterday at the Professor Dora Akunyili women Development center Awka, is part of the activities marking the State’s Silver Jubilee celebration.
The lecture titled: “Think Nigeria, invest in Anambra, Aku luo uno ,” was delivered by the chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers council and the traditional of Onitsha Igwe Alfred Achebe.
The event was attended by the academia, traditional rulers, captains of industry, the clergy, government functionaries, the prestigious Agbalanze and Otu Odu societies of Onitsha Ado N’Djamena idu Kingdom.
Delivering the lecture, Igwe Achebe traced the journey of the Igbos since 1960, as it concerns governance, education, trade and commerce all of which he said the Igbos and Ndi Anambra was among the tops.
Mirroring on the shortcomings particularly ethnicity and it’s effects on the country’s polity, the impact of military regimes and abandonment of agriculture and sole dependent on oil which he said, set the developed and under developed society in the country.
Some stakeholders who spoke to MYNAIJAINFO including the first vice president of the country Sir Alex Ekwueme, professor Ben Nwabueze, a former special Adviser on petroleum chief Emma Egboga, professor Chukwuemeka Ike, Dame Virgy Etiaba, among numerous others, maintained that the lecture is apt considering the fact that development of the state is a collective effort especially since the present administration has kept the ball rolling by ensuring that the state is secured.
Earlier In an opening speech, the Secretary to the State Government professor Solo Chukwulobelu noted that Ndi Anambra have played a key role in the development of other parts of the world but are yet to tap and harness the various opportunities in the state which is grossly under developed.
Professor Chukwulobelu added that Governor Willie Obiano standing on the developmental strides of the past administration has created a social and business friendly environment that will attract investors calling on the citizens to bring home their businesses for the development of the state.
The five discussants whom were, Dr Ifeanyi Okoye of JUHEL industries, Fidels Anosike of Daily Times Newspaper, chief Cosmos mmaduka of Coscharis group of companies, Mrs Ngozi Chukwumaude of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu university, and an oil guru Eng Onochie Anyaoku, took turns to dwelt on the lecture to the common understanding of all present.
