MYNAIJAINFO recalls that the delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been engulfed in leadership crisis for some time.

Police had on September 26 sealed the secretariat over the leadership crisis with heavily armed mobile policemen barricading the premises to prevent any of the factions in the state from gaining access to the party office.

It took a different dimension on Monday as unknown persons placed charms at the entrance of the state secretariat in a bid to allegedly stop the State Executive meeting in Asaba.

Reports from eyewitnesses informed that when the charms which was also tied to the entrance gate padlock was discovered, it scared early comers to the meeting which was attended by party chairmen from the 25 councils in the state.

It was further learnt that the party leaders including the embattled chairman of the party in the state, Prophet Jones Erue resorted to serious prayers before the charm objects were finally removed from the entrance.

Although it was unclear those behind the act, party stalwarts said the charms which had the entrance padlock painted with a red colour and a calabash containing eggs, white native chalk tied with red pieces was the handwork of enemies within the party.

The meeting which the Prophet Erue -led State Executive Council had summoned to hold at the state Secretariat on Monday by 10am later commenced behind schedule.

The State Executive meeting did not however commenced until about 12noon after the charms were destroyed by some members.
