Federal High Court Judges Turn Selves To EFCC.
Two judges of the Federal High Court, Mohammed Nasir Yunusa and Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa, today honored a summons by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to appear before it.
The judges arrived at the commission’s Lagos office about 10 am.
Their invitations followed bribery and money laundering allegations which arose during its investigation of an ongoing case that has already seen two senior arraigned in court.
It would be recalled that last March, the commission arraigned two senior advocates, Rickey Tarfa and Joseph Nwobike, before a Lagos High Court, charging them with bribery and offering gratification to a public official.
The two men are facing criminal prosecution for allegedly offering gratification to Federal High Court judges to prevent them from exercising the duties of their office.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the two judges received sums of money from the two senior lawyers severally.
The judges are currently being interrogated by agents of the commission.
Just last week, agents of the Department of State Security raided the homes of numerous judges nationwide. Several, including two Supreme Court justices, were arrested on various corruption allegations.
