Reuben Abati’s Passport Seized by EFCC.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly seized the passport of former Presidential aide, Reuben Abati.
Abati had been in EFCC custody over allegations of receiving N50m from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
He had reportedly agreed to return N5m to the agency but later changed his mind.
A source who was part of the delegates who visited the EFCC said former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode convinced others not to refund any money, as it would mean acceptance of guilt.
He said, “During the week, when we went to visit Fani-Kayode, Abati, Obanikoro and others, we had a brief meeting with them. Fani-Kayode was the one who was advising others not to return any money to the EFCC, insisting that doing such would be an admittance of guilt.
“Fani-Kayode seemed not to be desperate to leave the EFCC custody. Obanikoro ignored him. However, it seemed Abati has heeded to Fani-Kayode’s advice.”
