Senate Moves To End Hike in Data Price

Hike in DATA PRICE Halted By Senate.

The Nigerian Senate has moved to Halt the Planned increase in price of Data slated to begin on December 1, as directed by the National Communications Commission, NCC.

The Deputy Senate Leader Ibn N’Allah raised the motion on the proposed increase in data tariffs by the Telecomm Companies.

The Senators in all totality condemned the increase of data Tariffs by the service providers in tandem with the NCC.

Hence, the Senate resolved to halt the new tariff prices.

Meanwhile, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki mandated the Senate Committee on Communications to carry out thorough oversight on the process to ensure that Nigerians are carried along in the process.

The Committee was also mandated to investigate the allegations of failure of the service providers.

Finally, the committee was mandated to ensure that Nigerians are not short changed at this time without any consultations.
